I remember the evening like it was yesterday. I had agreed to begin my own network marketing business and I was excited. My sponsor was excited too. We had great expectations for my business and his.
He came to my office to help me get started right.
First, I was to list all my family members; these would be my first contacts. I wouldn’t exactly share what I was doing, but I would build some curiosity to get them excited too.
Then I was asked to make a list of 100 people that I knew, because everyone knows at least 100 people – right?
Okay, well first, I’m a huge introvert and the business I own does not require me to step out of my comfort zone. I own a bookkeeping and tax service. My customers come to me, so I’m good.
Now I’ve got to call 100 people that I know and try to get them interested in my new business venture without really telling them what I’m doing.
Next I’ve got to set up appointments and go to their homes and meet with them, then try to encourage them to come to a local meeting where they will learn all about my new business and will be eager to join my business. My upline will support me and work with my new eager prospects to build the business of my dreams.
I built a small network marketing business, but not the thriving business of my dreams.
My upline fell off the face of the earth, my downline lost their momentum, and I was hanging on to my bookkeeping business.
Fast forward 25 years and the process hasn’t changed.
I have a different upline with a different business, yet the same words are coming out of their mouth.
So, I decided to learn how to build the business of my dreams using techniques that fit the 21st century. Marketing has changed over the past 25 years and it’s time for me and you to change with the times.
So, what’s a struggling network marketer to do?
Use the internet and social media to build the business of your dreams.
Now I’m not suggesting that you message all your social media friends to let them know about your new business. That will get you kicked out of social media fast and furious.
What I am suggesting is that you use social media as a marketing tool. When used correctly, you’ll connect with your target audience who will want to know more about your business and/or products.
Think how easy it can be to share information about your brand, build a following that you can interact with personally, and learn what they are interested in.
This is how I’ve built my business over the past few years and I’ve had more success than I ever had using the traditional marketing methods.
Are you ready?
Are you ready to learn how you can use social media to build an audience that you can connect with and build your business with?
Well, let’s get this party started with these five essential social media tips that will help you move your business from struggling to thriving.
Your Social Media Mindset
Your upline is constantly asking if you’ve called your five today. That’s your daily goal and you’re struggling.
Many have turned to social media with the goal of contacting their daily five.
Think about the purpose of social media. You use social media for fun, to be relaxed, connect with friends, and to interact with others.
The last thing anyone wants is to receive a private message from you asking how they’re doing and if they’ve heard about …
You’ll see great results with a more positive mindset toward the use of social media. Your goal is to be positive and helpful. Answer questions that others have, show your willingness to be a go-to person in your field.
Your potential audience will get to know you, trust you, and like you when you interact with them in a helpful positive way.
Using social media with the right mindset will help you build the business of your dreams.
Set Your Goals
You are building a business and with social media, you’re building brand awareness for you and your business.
Before you get started with social media, set some goals for growing your audience. What will you do with your audience once you begin to get a following?

Whatever your business, you will need to set specific goals that will direct the decisions you make as you build your social media presence.
Whose Your Audience
We’re not living in the “Field of Dreams”, where if you build it, they will come.
There’s too many struggling business builders still waiting.
This is where you’ll be different and find your success in building your audience.
Your goal is to determine who your target market is. Apparently, they are not your family and friends and your list of 100; so, who are they?
As you go through the 10-Day Bootcamp, you’ll discover how you can nail down who your target market is and where they hang out.
This is crucial to your success. Once you understand your target market, you’ll be able to serve them in positive ways that will draw more and more customers and prospects to you.
Hear me when I say, “there are no overnight success stories in building a business.”
You’ll need to take consistent action day in and day out as you build your social media audience.
Determine what your audience wants and then make a commitment to post regularly. Learn to interact with them, ask them questions, provide them with more than they ask for.
Be there for them.
Keep Your Audience Engaged
You’ve taken action and are now seeing your audience grow. At first you may not see much traction or engagement. But know this, they’re watching.
Your goal is to get them engaged. That’s what social media is all about, engagement.
Share content that your audience wants to see and interact with. You want them to comment, like, and share your content. Mix it up and share something different throughout the week. Make it fun.
The more your audience interacts, the more others will see your content and join your audience.
This is what I call marketing boldly in the 21st century.
I’ve used these techniques to build multiple businesses with wonderful success and that’s my goal for you.
